Thrive Progress Report – December 2021
- 02 May 2022
In November 2021, Thrive hosted two video shoots for our clients: Saeed Zarinkob, the owner of Zar Food & Pastry; and Kevork Bardizbanian, the owner of Alternator & Starter Recon. Both Saeed and Kevork are successful refugee business owners who turned their passions into a reality with the support, mentorship and financing from Thrive.
These videos showcase an authentic day-in-the-life of our clients while telling us about their refugee journey to Australia, how they started their businesses, their future aspirations. By sharing their experiences they can help other refugees seeking to rebuild their lives.
Over the holidays we also revamped our website to include Business ideas – This section makes it easier for refugees and asylum seekers to look for inspiration and find various opportunities available to them.
Another exciting initiative we kicked off in 2021 is promoting more opportunities for women refugees and asylum seekers. Currently, 49 of the 307 businesses (16%) are owned and operated by women. We have initiated a project with a view to develop more female friendly industries, such as healthcare, and recruit more female Thrive staff.
